Delta Estate has always produced exceptional red and white wines. What started off exclusively with Pinot Noir production, has now grown to include other grape varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris, and in more recent years, Grüner Veltliner, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Understanding that different grape varieties perform best in different soil types and microclimates, the Delta Estate philosophy is to produce wines that give a real expression of the terroir on which they are grown.
In 2022, Delta Estate added three new wines to the Hatters Hill portfolio: Grüner Veltliner, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet-Merlot.
Both the Cabernet Franc and Cabernet-Merlot blend are produced exclusively from grapes from the Gimblett Gravels Winegrowing District, and have had two plus years to develop in bottle. They are ready to be enjoyed now, but can also be cellared for many years to come.
The Grüner Veltliner is selected from a small single site in Marlborough’s central Wairau Valley. This variety is most associated with Austria and has been planted in New Zealand for decades. It is a beautifully structured dry white wine with superb ability to age too.
