We are thrilled to announce that our Delta Barrel Fermented Sauvignon Blanc 2023 has been awarded a Gold Medal in the 2024 Wineshow season! The Marlborough Wine Show recently announced its results, and we couldn't be prouder to see Deltas alternative-style Sauvignon Blanc recognised with such an exciting accolade.
The expert judging panel described our wine as “intriguing musky, riper fruit under spicy oak. Nice acid line and salty finish.” This fantastic feedback highlights the unique character and craftsmanship that Heather pours into this wine. After receiving recognition at the Marlborough Wine Show, winemaker Heather shared her thoughts on the significance of the award: “It’s wonderful to be awarded in this important category, which showcases the diversity of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. This is a wine we love to make, and our customers love to drink, and it means a lot to us that the Marlborough Wine Show judges also appreciated it.”
This latest recognition adds to the growing list of accolades for our Barrel Fermented Sauvignon Blanc. With 2023 marking its second release, we’re thrilled to continue the gold medal trend established by the successful 2022 vintage, which also earned a Gold Medal at the internationally acclaimed 2024 Decanter World Wine Awards.
The grapes for this exceptional Sauvignon Blanc are sourced from select vineyards in the lower Wairau Valley, close to the coast. The terroir here features deep, fertile, free-draining soils rich in nutrients, creating the ideal conditions for developing concentrated flavours and aromas.The Delta team would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Marlborough Wine Show judging panel for awarding our wine a Gold Medal.
